A 30-year-old Australian tourist has died after falling roughly 80 metres from the cliff-top "T-Rex" rock formation at Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida island, near Bali, Indonesia. Cronin Brianna Lani slipped while attempting to find her own way to the cliff edge along a route known to be steep and narrow, highlighting the dangers of the popular but hazardous tourist trail, which draws large numbers of visitors for its dramatic clifftop views.

The fall occurred on the morning of Saturday, 12 September, with local authorities estimating it happened around 9am and reporting it was first flagged by a resident roughly 50 minutes later. Rescue teams, including Nusa Penida Search and Rescue, the Indonesian navy, police, lifeguards and locals, mounted a joint operation to recover her body, which had suffered multiple fractures. High waves forced them to abandon a planned sea evacuation and instead carry her up the beach's stairs, with the entire recovery taking about 1.5 hours before she was taken to Griya Penida Medical Clinic.
