A Marvel fan has translated a hidden message written in Latverian runes on Robert Downey Jr.'s jacket during Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday panel at Comic Con this weekend. The runes, spotted covering the actor's clothing, echo a script previously seen on Latverian-branded coffee bags handed out at SXSW London, which allowed Popverse's Grant DeArmitt to begin cracking the code.

The runes function as a near 1-for-1 substitution for English letters, though with some phonetic quirks, such as "coffee" being spelled "kavi". Deciphered phrases include "THERE IS NO PROMISE OF TOMORROW", "JUSTICE", "REVENGE" and "TO THE VICTOR GO THE SPOILS", a nod to villain Doctor Doom, though one section remains untranslated as it was only partially visible. Avengers: Doomsday, which also confirmed Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool will appear, is released in cinemas on 18 December 2026.
