The Russo Brothers publicly congratulated the cast and crew of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" after the Sony Pictures film broke the domestic opening weekend box office record, calling it "history-making" ahead of their own upcoming release, "Avengers: Doomsday". Joe and Anthony Russo shared their praise on Instagram, naming director Destin Daniel Cretton, stars Tom Holland and Zendaya, and producers including Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, describing the moment as "the gauntlet has been passed" from their record-setting "Avengers: Endgame" to the new Spider-Man film.

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" opened to $360 million domestically, surpassing the previous record of $357.1 million set by "Avengers: Endgame" in April 2019. Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro also praised the result during the company's quarterly earnings call, saying it "bodes well" for "Avengers: Doomsday", which is due for release on 18 December and features an extensive returning cast including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal and Florence Pugh.
