A British Airways flight from Barbados to London was cancelled after crew members reportedly drank so heavily the night before that one of them collapsed in their hotel bar. The incident matters because it left up to 336 passengers stranded in Bridgetown when the entire operating crew of Flight BA254 had to be stood down, and it raises questions about crew conduct hours before they were due to fly a long-haul service.

According to reports, the crew were staying at a £500-a-night all-inclusive resort popular with honeymooners and families when the drinking took place on the Saturday night. One stewardess is said to have vomited at the bar after consuming vodka and beer, while a colleague collapsed and had to be helped to his room. Guests filmed the group, who allegedly responded that they were British Airways crew; four crew members have reportedly been suspended, and the whole team was flown home as passengers over the following days while the Sunday flight was axed.
