Bank of America had to bring in 1,000 contractors to patch all the bugs Mythos identified

The Register ·

Bank of America hired 1,000 contractors in the second quarter to help fix vulnerabilities identified by Anthropic’s Mythos AI model. CEO Brian Moynihan said the extra workers were needed to handle the volume of remediation quickly, and that the costs and demand for their help should fall over time.

The contractors joined about 3,000 technical staff and remain with the bank for now. Moynihan said remediation costs exceeded “a couple of hundred million” dollars, combining Mythos-related work with costs tied to anti-money laundering orders, without separating the two. The bank also reported a 17 per cent profit drop after agreeing to a $1.21 billion settlement with FinCEN, alongside other penalties.
