Netflix has released the first trailer for Animals, a crime thriller starring Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington as parents whose son is kidnapped. Affleck also directs and co-writes the film, which follows their characters as they try to raise a ransom and navigate political enemies they cannot trust.

Affleck plays Los Angeles mayoral candidate Mark Kimball, while Washington plays his wife Abigail; the dialogue-free teaser also features Gillian Anderson as a fixer and Steven Yeun as Kimball’s campaign manager. Luis Gerardo Méndez and Adriana Paz co-star, and the film is due in selected cinemas and on Netflix on 9 October. It was written by Connor McIntyre, revised by Billy Ray and Affleck, and produced through Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity.
