Destructoid has published a guide to the FC 26 "Cultured Commander Evolution," a new item in the game's Ultimate Team mode that lets players upgrade a centre-back to a 96 overall rating. The evolution requires a base card of no higher than 95 overall with limited PlayStyles, and applies across two upgrade tiers unlocked by playing matches in modes such as Squad Battles, Rivals or Champions.

The first upgrade tier boosts overall rating, passing, dribbling and weak foot, while the second adds significant defending and physical improvements along with new PlayStyles such as Aerial Fortress and Anticipate. The guide's author recommends several centre-backs as strong candidates for the evolution, spanning special promotional cards from Team of the Season, FUTTIES, Showdown, Winter Wildcards and Icon editions.
