BG3’s Best New Mod Adds an Entire 3-Part Campaign About Astarion

Polygon · 2 hours ago

A new Baldur's Gate 3 mod, "A Dream of Silence: ReVamped" by modder lizardphunk, adds a full three-act custom campaign built entirely around Astarion, letting players choose to betray or save him through an original interactive-fiction-inspired story. The mod adapts Abigail Corfman's Twine game "A Dream of Silence" into the BG3 engine, tapping into the vampire spawn companion's core narrative of escaping centuries of abuse by his former master, Cazador. It stands out for weaving a self-contained emotional storyline directly into the existing game rather than simply adding items or quests.

The campaign traps the player and Astarion in a shifting nightmare version of Cazador's mansion, offers four possible outcomes ranging from devastation to redemption, and introduces six new characters, including additional vampire spawn. It requires roughly 1.3GB of space, installs via Nexus Mods rather than Larian's official mod menu, and is currently Windows PC only; players must use a non-origin character, as it cannot be played as Astarion himself. The mod deliberately excludes voice acting, as the creator declined to reuse an actor's recorded lines for dialogue never actually performed, and offers around six hours of new content culminating in an escape from the Szarr Mansion.

  • Windows-only, ~1.3GB, six hours long, deliberately has no voice acting.

A new mod for the role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3 focuses on Astarion, one of the game's companion characters, whose original storyline centres on escaping years of abuse by his vampire master, Cazador. The mod, created by a modder using the name lizardphunk, builds an entirely new three-part story around this character, giving players choices that affect his fate. It is based on an earlier text-based game by Abigail Corfman.

Baldur's Gate 3, made by developer Larian Studios, has built a large following partly because of its companion characters and the depth of their personal stories. Mods, which are unofficial additions created by fans rather than the game's developers, are a common way for players to extend or reshape games after release, and Nexus Mods is one of the most widely used platforms for hosting and installing them.

This particular mod has drawn attention because it goes further than typical mods, which usually add small items or side quests, by instead delivering a self-contained narrative campaign with multiple possible endings and new characters.
