Bill Hader Is the Cat in the Hat — This Time a “Much Different Version” Than He Played on ‘SNL’

The Hollywood Reporter ·

Bill Hader voices the Cat in the Hat in a new animated film, revisiting a character he previously played in a 2014 Saturday Night Live sketch. He said the film’s family-friendly Cat is “a much different version” from his more adult sketch portrayal, and explained that he was flattered to be asked.

The film expands on Dr Seuss’s 1957 book, whose story forms only its opening minutes before following the Cat afterwards. Hader said the energetic recording sessions were exhausting and left him needing a nap; the voice cast also includes Quinta Brunson, America Ferrera, Matt Berry and Bowen Yang. The film is due in cinemas on 6 November.
