‘Björk Orkestral With The Hamrahlíð Choir’ set for physical release

NME ·

Björk is preparing a physical release of her 2021 concert with the Hamrahlíð Choir, recorded at Reykjavík’s Harpa Concert Hall. The performance reworked songs from across her catalogue with choir, strings and wind instruments, bringing the release to listeners who may not have attended the concert.

The album, titled *Björk Orkestral With The Hamrahlíð Choir*, is due on 27 November in LP, CD, Blu-ray and DVD formats. A live version of “Where Is The Line” is already available as a single; proceeds from the original concert supported Kvennaathvarfið, a women’s shelter in Reykjavík. Björk said the song’s shifting rhythms and mix of musical styles reflect Icelandic folk traditions and its lyrical theme of hypocrisy.

In short

  • Björk’s 2021 Harpa concert is getting a physical release.
  • It will be available on LP, CD, Blu-ray and DVD.
  • “Where Is The Line” is out now as a live single.

Explained simply

Björk is an Icelandic singer, songwriter and producer whose music spans pop, electronic and orchestral styles. The Hamrahlíð Choir is a Reykjavík choir with a long history of performing Icelandic and international music.

The concert brought together Björk’s songs and a choir, strings and wind instruments at Harpa, Reykjavík’s concert hall. Reworking familiar tracks in this way offers listeners a different view of music written across her career.

The original performance also supported Kvennaathvarfið, a women’s shelter in Reykjavík. The release makes the concert available to people who were not there in person.
