Blue Origin’s next launch now won’t happen until 2027
Blue Origin’s next New Glenn rocket launch is now planned for January 2027, later than the company’s earlier December target. The delay follows an explosion at the launchpad in May, which damaged infrastructure before a planned flight carrying Amazon Leo satellites; the revised schedule postpones the rocket’s return to flight.
CEO Dave Limp reportedly told staff that bad weather affected the launchpad rebuilding work. The January window is about 10 days later than the earlier target, according to CNBC. In October, founder Jeff Bezos had said the launch might take place in December, joking that it could be on the 31st.
In short
- New Glenn’s next launch is planned for January 2027.
- A May launchpad explosion and bad weather contributed to the delay.
- Blue Origin says returning the rocket to flight remains its priority.
