BMG has acquired a set of rights from Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale relating to his interests in the Grammy-winning Australian rock band, deepening a relationship that began when BMG became his global publisher in 2016. The deal sees BMG take control of Stockdale's publishing, recorded music royalties and neighbouring rights for the Wolfmother catalogue, underlining the label's continued push to consolidate rights around established, commercially proven artists. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Stockdale, Wolfmother's vocalist, guitarist, co-founder and songwriter, first signed a publishing deal with BMG's Heath Johns back in 2005, two years before the band won a Grammy for best hard rock performance for "Woman". The band broke through with its self-titled 2005 debut and songs including "Joker And The Thief" and "White Unicorn", followed by 2009's Cosmic Egg, which reached No. 16 on the Billboard 200. Wolfmother has also picked up multiple ARIA Awards and an APRA songwriter of the year prize, and its music has featured in films and games such as The Hangover, Shrek the Third and Guitar Hero.
