Bob Yari’s Magenta Light Studios Acquires Anna Nicole Smith Feature Drama ‘Hurricanna’

Deadline · 11 hours ago

Bob Yari's Magenta Light Studios has acquired US and Canadian theatrical rights to "Hurricanna", a drama depicting the final 48 hours of supermodel Anna Nicole Smith's life. Directed by Emmy nominee Francesca Gregorini, the film examines fame, addiction and codependency through the fragmented, colliding perspectives of Smith, her psychiatrist, and her attorney and caretaker, culminating in a fateful appearance at a championship boxing match.

The film stars Sylvia Hoeks as Smith, alongside Oscar winner Holly Hunter, Mark Duplass, Nicholas Hamilton, Kevin Sussman and Michael Nouri, and is set for release in US theatres on 13 November. Gregorini directs from a script by Rachel Sarnoff and Matt Sarnoff, with producers including Cassian Elwes, Rory Koslow, Alix Madigan and Paul Robarts. Gregorini said she felt personally drawn to the story through her own experience of fame and addiction, aiming to portray Smith "as a human being" rather than a tabloid spectacle.
