Lorretta M Moody, a 68-year-old Kansas woman who depended on oxygen and had limited mobility, was found dead inside a suitcase outside a Wichita fire station hours after her family reported her missing. Police are investigating the death as a homicide, but said there was no apparent threat to the wider public.

Two unidentified people brought the suitcase to Fire Station 22 shortly after 6pm, though investigators have not said how they obtained Moody’s body or whether they were involved in her death. Moody was last seen near South Mosley, and her family said she had been without her walker, oxygen and daily medication when she disappeared; detectives are interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence and reconstructing the timeline.
