Bono has revealed that Dolly Parton recorded vocals for U2’s song ‘Torn’ while seriously ill, reportedly getting out of bed to perform it. The track, which Parton co-wrote with U2 and Johnny McDaid, will close U2’s forthcoming album *Carnaval de Luz*, making it the final song she recorded before her death.

Bono initially approached Parton about an Irish folk project, but she instead offered ‘Torn’ for the band to develop. She recorded her vocals in June at the age of 80, later heard the finished mix and was reportedly delighted with it; the song is described as a tender country piece about fractured family relationships.
