Bose Is Buying Skullcandy. It’s Not as Weird as It Sounds

Wired ·

Bose is acquiring Skullcandy, building on a partnership in which Bose has provided audio expertise for Skullcandy products. The deal gives Bose access to a younger customer base and board sports communities that its own brand may not reach as well, while pairing its engineering strengths with Skullcandy’s cultural identity.

The companies began working together on the Method 360 ANC earbuds in 2025 and later released the Crusher 1080 ANC headphones in July. Bose says Skullcandy will remain in Park City, Utah, and its more affordable products could help Bose compete across a wider price range. Skullcandy has faced criticism for sound quality, but a review gave the Method 360 earbuds 8/10, citing good sound and noise cancellation for the price.

  • Bose is buying Skullcandy after a year of product collaboration.
  • The deal adds reach among younger customers and board sports fans.
  • Skullcandy will remain in Park City, Utah.
