Brit, 47, dies while recovering from tummy tuck and boob job in Turkey

Daily Mail · 2 months ago

A 47-year-old British woman, Caroline Baker from Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, died in July 2025 while recovering from cosmetic surgery in Antalya, Turkey, an inquest at Winchester Coroner's Court heard. She had travelled with her daughter to undergo a tummy tuck and breast augmentation, but despite what doctors described as "successful surgery", she began gasping for air, suffered a heart attack and died. The case adds to ongoing concerns about the risks faced by Britons travelling abroad for cosmetic procedures.

Mrs Baker's surgery on 16 July 2025 lasted longer than the scheduled four hours, prompting her daughter Kayden, who was present, to panic. Doctors later said her mother had "fallen ill" following the procedures and, despite receiving almost an hour of CPR, she died at 7pm. Turkish authorities recorded the cause of death as a heart attack. She had previously travelled to Turkey for gastric sleeve weight-loss surgery. In statements read to the court, her husband Graham described her as a much-loved mother, wife and grandmother who was "full of life and joy" and had suffered depression following the death of their daughter.
