California trans suspect arrested in mother’s killing after neighbor recalls heated argument

A man has been arrested in Laguna Beach, California, on suspicion of killing his mother after a neighbour recalled hearing a heated argument between them beforehand. The suspect, named as Safford Wolfson, is accused of murdering his mother, Angela Caprioli, in a case that has drawn attention partly due to reporting on the suspect's gender identity. The arrest brings a swift resolution to what police treated as a domestic homicide investigation.

Neighbours reportedly told investigators they had heard a heated exchange between mother and son prior to the killing, which appears to have helped focus the inquiry on Wolfson. Authorities in Laguna Beach took him into custody this week, though further details of the case, including a possible motive and the exact circumstances of Caprioli's death, were not fully disclosed in available reporting.
