Filmmaker Andrea Iervolino has enlisted director Camille Delamarre (Brick Mansions, The Transporter Refueled) to direct Bugatti: The Final Race, a biopic about car maker Ettore Bugatti. The project marks a milestone for Iervolino, who is scripting one of his own films for the first time, co-writing with Alberto Ferrari after original writer Bobby Moresco departed the role. It is the latest in Iervolino's series of films dramatising famous Italian car marques, following Lamborghini, Michael Mann's Ferrari and Maserati.

The film, produced by the Andrea Iervolino American Company, is set in Paris in 1947 during Bugatti's final months, as he seeks to reclaim the Molsheim factory and name taken from him. Delamarre said the production would use real vintage cars, including a 1939 straight-eight engine, rather than relying on visual effects, framing the story as centred on the relationship between a father and son. Iervolino described the project as the culmination of his "Italian obsession with speed" trilogy, calling Bugatti "art applied to an engine."
