Carriers – “Look At Miss Ohio” (Gillian Welch & David Rawlings Cover)
Carriers released a cover of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings’ “Look At Miss Ohio”, linking the song to Amy Acton’s election as Ohio governor. The writer says Acton’s public service and her words about healing have given people hope for positive change in Ohio and across the country.
The writer recalls Acton’s daily COVID briefings, which they felt were delivered with care and gentleness, and describes her as a public health servant who overcame adversity. They note that only 15 women had previously served as US governors, and connect the song’s sad but powerful tone with the public mood.
