Explained simply
CBS is a US television network that airs scripted dramas, comedies and news, as well as sports. Its programmes reach viewers through scheduled broadcasts and streaming services, so audience figures can combine people watching in different ways.
A premiere week is when a network launches its new season’s programmes. Comparing the same week from one year to the next gives an indication of how many people are watching, although the figures can include both immediate viewing and audiences who watch later. These comparisons help show how CBS’s programmes are performing in a crowded US television market.
