Chacarra leads as McIlroy fades before play halted

Eugenio Chacarra opened a two-shot lead at the weather-affected DP World India Championship as play in the third round was stopped because of darkness. He is seeking his third win of the season and a chance to move above Patrick Reed in the Race to Dubai standings, while Rory McIlroy’s inconsistent round left him well behind.

Chacarra was 14 under after 11 holes, having made four birdies in his first seven, with Joost Luiten and Angel Hidalgo joint second on 12 under. Scott Jamieson was a further shot back, while defending champion Tommy Fleetwood was nine under. McIlroy stood at four under after 15 holes, ten shots off the lead; Reed was two shots ahead of him after 13 holes.
