Chappell Roan Brings Out Christina Aguilera at L.A. Concert: ‘Honestly Paved the Way for Me’

Billboard ·

Chappell Roan brought Christina Aguilera on stage during the first night of her Super Graphic Spectacular in Los Angeles, where they performed together at the Shrine Auditorium. Roan said Aguilera had helped pave the way for her and other women in pop to express themselves freely, while Aguilera praised Roan as a powerful new voice.

Aguilera sang her 2002 hit “Beautiful” before joining Roan for “Coffee”, from Roan’s album *The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess*. Roan briefly stumbled over the opening line but recovered, and the pair finished with harmonies. The two-night concerts raise money for Roan’s Midwest Princess Project, which has raised more than $800,000 for over 60 organisations supporting trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities.
