Charlie Brooker's forthcoming Netflix series "Blackmere" has been officially unveiled at the streamer's U.K. upfronts, with Rory Kinnear joining the cast alongside Paddy Considine, Georgina Campbell and Lena Headey. The four-part series, arriving in early 2027, is billed as an "absurd comedy disguised as an incredibly serious crime thriller," blending Brooker's signature satirical style with dark genre fare that should appeal to both his devoted "Black Mirror" audience and those seeking something different from the acclaimed writer-producer.

The series follows Detective John Blackmere as he travels from the rain-soaked Northern city of Bleakford to London to avenge his partner's death and apprehend a ritualistic serial killer. Created and written by Brooker alongside Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier and Joel Morris, with additional material by Victoria Asare Archer, the project has been in development for over a year. Executive producers include Brooker, Jessica Rhoades and Annabel Jones, with Al Campbell directing the series.
