Actor Chris Evans has hinted that his Captain America storyline in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster "Avengers: Doomsday" will be particularly gruelling, describing it as "brutal" during a Q&A at Fan Expo Boston. He said directors Anthony and Joe Russo have a habit of putting Steve Rogers through the wringer, viewing repeated punishment as central to what makes him heroic, and this instalment was no exception.

The film brings together an extensive roster of Marvel characters, spanning the original Avengers and X-Men through to the Thunderbolts and the Fantastic Four, who unite against the villain Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The Russo brothers have separately revealed that Downey Jr surprised them by improvising the character's voice during a trailer shoot, convincing them he was right for the role. "Avengers: Doomsday" is scheduled for release in cinemas on 18 December.
