Claude Gets Personal Finance—Anthony Pompliano Accuses Anthropic of Copying His Startup
Anthropic has launched a beta personal finance feature for Claude, allowing users to connect bank accounts and ask about spending, bills and available funds. The release is accompanied by crypto investor Anthony Pompliano’s allegation that Anthropic sought confidential information from his competing startup, Silvia, before developing the product.
The feature is available to US subscribers on Claude Pro, Max and Ultra, with account connections handled by Plaid and limited to read-only access. Claude can review up to 24 months of transactions to summarise spending, flag charges and organise bills; Anthropic says these conversations are not used for model training, though balances may be delayed and figures should be checked. Pompliano says Anthropic staff approached Silvia engineers in April and claims Silvia’s costs are about 97% lower using its own models and hardware. OpenAI introduced similar bank connections for ChatGPT in May.
In short
- Claude’s new finance beta connects to US bank and credit card accounts.
- Anthropic says access is read-only and finance conversations are not used for training.
- Silvia founder Anthony Pompliano alleges Anthropic sought details about his startup.
