Conte plays down ‘unfounded’ Man Utd speculation

Antonio Conte has denied reports that he is in advanced negotiations with Manchester United, calling claims about his demands “unfounded”. The speculation comes as United consider alternatives for manager Michael Carrick after a heavy Champions League defeat.

Carrick is expected to lead United against Bournemouth on Sunday, while the club has started identifying possible replacements, including Conte, Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann. Conte, who is currently without a club after leaving Napoli, said any concrete opportunity would lead to discussions about terms; Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler also said he is focused on his current job.
