Courtney Love says her long-awaited solo album is finished and that she is now healthy after severe health problems left her close to death in 2020. In an Instagram update, the Hole frontwoman said she is still deciding how to release the record and hopes to tour and sing again, describing music as vital to her wellbeing.
Love said her health deteriorated after she moved to England in 2019, leading to repeated hospital stays, major weight loss and hair loss; she had previously disclosed being hospitalised with anaemia in August 2020, when she weighed 97 pounds. She said she made the album believing it might be her last, and thanked collaborators including Butch Walker, Will Sergeant, Billie Joe Armstrong and Melissa Auf der Maur; it would be her first album since 2010’s *Nobody’s Daughter*, released under the Hole name.

Courtney Love is an American singer, songwriter and actor best known as the frontwoman of the rock band Hole. She has also released music under her own name and has remained a prominent figure in alternative rock since the 1990s.
Hole’s best-known albums include Live Through This and Celebrity Skin. Love’s previous full-length release, Nobody’s Daughter, came out in 2010 under the Hole name after the group’s original members were no longer involved.
A new solo record would mark Love’s first album in many years and involves musicians and producers from several parts of the rock and pop world. Her comments also provide context for a period in which she had lived largely outside the public spotlight while based in England.
