Courtney Love says her new solo album is “done” and “really good”, as she shares how she “almost died” and “lost all my hair” in hospital

Courtney Love has said her long-awaited second solo album is complete and that she believes it is “really good”, marking the follow-up to 2004’s ‘America’s Sweetheart’. She also disclosed that a serious illness in 2019 left her repeatedly hospitalised, extremely underweight and fearing for her life, though she now says she is healthy and hopes to return to touring.
Love said she wrote and recorded much of the album while in hospital, having treated it as though it might be her final record. The album is expected to include contributions from Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant and former Hole bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur; Love has also reflected on Hole’s 2010 album ‘Nobody’s Daughter’ and said she needs to work out how to resume performing live.

Courtney Love is an American singer, songwriter and actor best known as the frontwoman of the alternative rock band Hole. The band became prominent in the 1990s with albums including Live Through This, and Love later released her first solo album, America’s Sweetheart, in 2004.
Her career has often drawn public attention because of both her music and her personal life, including her marriage to Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, who died in 1994. Love has continued to make music intermittently since Hole’s main period of activity, while the band’s membership and status have changed over time.
A new solo album would be her first under her own name in more than two decades. The reported collaborators are figures from alternative and post-punk music, including Will Sergeant of Echo & The Bunnymen and Melissa Auf Der Maur, who previously played bass in Hole.
