England Under-20s coach Lydia Bedford says the Football Association has instructed her team to prepare normally for next month’s Women’s Under-20 World Cup, despite Uefa’s continuing threat to boycott Fifa competitions. Uefa’s 55 member associations threatened a boycott after Fifa president Gianni Infantino considered selling stakes in World Cup and other competitions to private investors, although that proposal has since been dropped. The tournament runs from 5 to 27 September and includes six European teams; none has reportedly told hosts Poland it will withdraw. England beat Portugal 2-0 in a warm-up match, while Polish player Weronika Arasniewicz urged against a boycott and Lucy Bronze has said one may be necessary for the wider good of football.
