Danish PM rejects plastic surgeon’s offer to ‘fix’ her nose as she shares screengrabs of his message and declares: ‘I’m happy with my body’

Denmark's prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, has publicly rejected an unsolicited offer from a male plastic surgeon who messaged her on Instagram offering to "fix" a mark on her nose. She shared a screenshot of the exchange, telling him she was happy with her body and did not need a male plastic surgeon's opinion on her appearance, before using the moment to speak out against years of comments about her looks.

Frederiksen, the second woman to lead Denmark, said she had received countless messages over the years criticising her teeth, hair and nose, and urging her to try Botox, but that she did not interfere with others' choices about their appearance and was comfortable in her own skin as a woman nearing 50. Her brother has previously said her nose was broken when she was 13 after she intervened to protect a group of Arab refugees from a racist gang in Aalborg, an incident he credits with shaping her resilience, including in facing down Donald Trump's threats to annex Greenland. She is due to attend an EU Arctic security summit in Rovaniemi, Finland, on 13-14 September alongside leaders including Germany's Friedrich Merz and Poland's Donald Tusk, amid rising geopolitical tension over the region.
