Democrat Janelle Stelson wins election to U.S. House in Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District
Democrat Janelle Stelson defeated Republican incumbent Scott Perry to win Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District in Tuesday’s US House election. The result removes Perry, a former leader of the House Freedom Caucus, after he sought an eighth term.
A former local television anchor, Stelson had challenged Perry two years earlier and lost. In this campaign, she portrayed him as an extremist on abortion rights and criticised his support for President Donald Trump’s tax-cut legislation; the Associated Press called the race for Stelson at 10.41pm EST.
In short

Steelman: both sides, in good faith
The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.
The case for
Stelson’s victory can be seen as voters choosing a representative they believe better reflects their views, after she challenged Perry’s record on abortion rights and his support for Trump’s tax-cut legislation. Her earlier run and return to the race also gave constituents a chance to reconsider the incumbent’s record and choose new representation.
The case against
Perry’s supporters could argue that his record, including his leadership in the House Freedom Caucus and support for the tax legislation, reflected conservative priorities they wanted represented. They may also view his defeat as a loss of experienced representation and see Stelson’s criticisms of him as insufficient reason to reject his broader agenda.
