Disney has announced Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story, a new music-focused spin-off film for Disney Channel and Disney+ that centres on the children of Disney sidekicks rather than heroes and villains. The move broadens the Descendants franchise following the recent success of Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, reflecting Disney’s continued investment in the series across streaming, music and live events.

The film follows trainees at a secret Sidekick Academy who must protect the fairytale world from two villains without help from their parents or established heroes. Its cast includes Dior Goodjohn as Genie’s daughter, Momona Tamada as Yzma’s daughter and Jacob Rodriguez as Kronk’s son; Wicked Wonderland was Disney+’s top global film in its first 10 days, while its soundtrack has passed 50 million streams.
