Director Destin Daniel Cretton says Spider-Man: Brand New Day will explore Peter Parker’s isolation after the events of No Way Home, when everyone, including MJ and Ned, forgot his identity. He believes keeping details of Sadie Sink’s role secret strengthens the film by preserving surprises for audiences.

The film, due in cinemas on 31 July, is the ninth live-action Spider-Man film and is set four years after No Way Home. Peter, played by Tom Holland, is said to focus almost entirely on being Spider-Man while continuing to watch the social-media lives of MJ and Ned, played by Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, from a distance.
