Disney+ has officially greenlit a new animated reboot of Darkwing Duck, the beloved crime-fighting comedy series from 1991, with production by Seth Rogen's Point Grey Productions. Mark Hamill, renowned for his extensive voice acting work on animated series including Batman: The Animated Series and Avatar: The Last Airbender, will star as the lead character Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck. The revival represents a significant moment for fans of the original series, which has remained culturally significant three decades after its debut.

The new series will serve as a sequel rather than a direct remake, opening with Drake Mallard trapped in an alternate reality where he never became a superhero. He regains his heroic path with assistance from new character Duckie (voiced by Lilimar from Inside Out 2), alongside returning allies Launchpad McQuack (Seth Rogen), Gosalyn (Lizzy Caplan), and mystical love interest Morgana, whilst facing classic adversaries including Megavolt and Negaduck. The production team includes original series creator Tad Stones as a consultant, with an additional cast featuring Dan Stevens, Tiffany Shepis, and Kathryn Newton amongst others.
