Fargo’s third season is presented as a distinctive, darkly comic crime thriller worth watching over a weekend. The 10-episode anthology season follows estranged twin brothers whose dispute over an inheritance escalates into theft, blackmail and dealings with a sinister criminal figure, while pushing the series into notably stranger territory.

Ewan McGregor plays both brothers: wealthy businessman Emmit Stussy and resentful parole officer Ray Stussy, whose attempt to steal a valuable stamp sets events in motion. The season also features Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ray’s girlfriend Nikki Swango, David Thewlis as criminal antagonist V. M. Varga, and returning deaf assassin Mr. Wrench; it is described as less faithful to the original film than season one and less acclaimed than season two, but the series’ weirdest instalment.
