DJ Heartstring have released ‘Another Year Alone (i love you)’, a new single that draws on the duo’s indie influences while retaining their dance-focused style. The release matters as it shows the pair broadening their sound by combining 1990s dance euphoria with the guitar-driven energy of 2000s indie.

The track was inspired in part by Jonas’s teenage exposure to FIFA game soundtracks on PlayStation 2, with Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand cited as reference points. Previously used in the duo’s live sets, including as the closing track at Utrecht’s Soenda Festival, it officially interpolates ‘7’ by Welsh band Catfish and the Bottlemen; DJ Heartstring describe it as built around a large, stadium-ready vocal line.
