Older graphics cards can retain resale value or serve new computing uses
With graphics card prices rising and upgrade cycles potentially lengthening, an old GPU can still have useful life or resale value. Rather than discard it, owners can sell it, repurpose it for other computing tasks, keep it as a spare or recycle it responsibly.
Used cards may retain value: some RTX 3060s are selling for nearly their original price, while a 10-year-old GTX 1060 is often listed for $50 to $100 in good condition. Older GPUs can also accelerate video streaming on a media server, power a TV gaming PC, support video capture or editing, and run local AI workloads. Using two cards in one PC can require a suitable power supply and motherboard, and may affect performance; electronics should go to e-waste recycling rather than household rubbish.
- Old GPUs can still be valuable.
- Repurpose them for streaming, gaming or creative work.
