The Guardian has given a scathing review to Drawn Together, Prime Video's latest adaptation of a novel by Mercedes Ron, author of the bestselling Culpable trilogy. The film follows a ballet dancer who falls for her bodyguard after being abducted, but the review dismisses it as tonally confused "trash minus any froth or fun", lacking both the chemistry and the eroticism it clearly aspires to.

The story centres on Marfil (Ester Expósito), a 20-year-old dancer from Spain living in New York who is abducted in Central Park and wakes with no memory of the attack. Unbeknownst to her, her billionaire father is secretly an organised crime boss who hires the brooding Sebastián (Hugo Diego Garcia) as her round-the-clock bodyguard, a premise the reviewer calls implausible given his controlling, surveillance-heavy behaviour. The review criticises the leads' lack of chemistry, notes the underwhelming sex scene arrives 70 minutes in, and flags an unresolved cliffhanger ending set up for a sequel.
