Jeff Hays, the audiobook narrator for Matt Dinniman’s “Dungeon Crawler Carl” novels, has been cast as the voice of Princess Donut in Peacock’s forthcoming live-action adaptation. The decision retains the performer closely associated with the tiara-wearing talking cat, a central character in the series, and represents the first announced casting since Peacock ordered the programme last month.
The news was announced at San Diego Comic-Con during a Penguin Random House panel on Thursday. Chris Yost will write and serve as showrunner, with Seth MacFarlane among the executive producers; the story follows survivor Carl and Princess Donut after an alien invasion forces humanity into a deadly televised game show. Eight of 10 planned novels have been released, selling more than 14 million copies, while the Hays-narrated audiobooks have attracted over 140 million listening hours on Audible.
