The match was disrupted by bad weather, being postponed from Sunday to Monday, but Eala fought back from a set down to seal a significant career milestone that will be celebrated in the Philippines and beyond.

Eala, 21, lost the first set 6-4 before play was suspended due to rain and lightning while she led 2-1 in the second. When action resumed on Monday, she dominated to win 4-6 6-4 6-0, powered by her serve and aggressive baseline play, and will rise from 28th to a career-high 20th in the world rankings. The win also extended her run against top-10 opponents to five straight victories, having previously beaten Elena Rybakina, Elina Svitolina twice, and Iga Swiatek.
