Eight dead in mass shooting in rural west Türkiye: officials

Eight people were killed and one was seriously injured in shootings across three villages near Afyonkarahisar in west-central Türkiye on Thursday, officials said. A manhunt is under way for the suspected gunman, who reportedly left his vehicle and escaped on foot.

Two women died after being found wounded in Yukaritandir; three bodies were found in each of Kiyir and Ayazini, according to state news agency Anadolu. Police found a red minivan stuck in mud near Eskisehir, about 100 kilometres north, and investigators are also examining whether the attacks are linked to an earlier shooting in Afyonkarahisar.
