Ellen Pompeo is set to star in Not a Sound, a new drama being developed by Hulu through 20th Television. The project reunites Pompeo with David E. Kelley more than two decades after Grey’s Anatomy replaced Kelley’s Boston Legal in its original ABC time slot, and gives Pompeo another medical role in a markedly darker mystery story.

Written by Matthew Tinker and Annakate Chappell from Heather Gudenkauf’s novel, the series follows disgraced emergency-room nurse Amelia Winn after a hit-and-run leaves her deaf. Amelia and her service dog find a murdered former colleague, drawing her into an investigation that may uncover the truth behind the crash; Azazel Jacobs is attached to direct, while Pompeo will also executive produce. The news comes as Pompeo continues work on Grey’s Anatomy, approaching its 23rd season, alongside other Hulu projects including Good American Family and Chicks.
