Elliott ready to take ‘second chance’ at Liverpool
Harvey Elliott says he is determined to make the most of a “second chance” at Liverpool after a difficult loan spell at Aston Villa. With Andoni Iraola now Liverpool’s manager, the midfielder sees pre-season as an opportunity to impress the new coaching staff and establish himself in the squad.
Villa were required to buy Elliott for £35m if he made 10 appearances, but chose not to trigger the clause and limited him to nine matches and 277 minutes. The 23-year-old returned to Liverpool early, has played in both pre-season fixtures, and says he is focusing on physical and mental fitness while remaining uncertain about his longer-term future.
