Elon Musk Claims That Before the End of 2026, Grok Will Make a Full-Length AI Movie of The Odyssey ‘That Is Historically Accurate and True to the Art of Homer’

Elon Musk has claimed that his AI chatbot Grok will produce a full-length film of Homer's The Odyssey before the end of 2026, describing it as "historically accurate and true to the art of Homer." The prediction, made while retweeting a three-minute AI-generated clip via Grok Imagine, follows Musk's earlier criticism of Christopher Nolan's live-action adaptation of the same story, much of which centred on complaints about its diverse casting, including Elliot Page, Travis Scott and Lupita Nyong'o.

Scholars have noted that objections to Nolan's film mostly concerned changes to characters and story rather than casting or accents, with Greek literature expert Daniel Mendelsohn dismissing the row as "particularly silly" given Helen's minor role in the original text. Nolan's Odyssey has meanwhile proved a major commercial and critical success, taking $264 million worldwide on its opening weekend, his biggest ever, and earning a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8/10 from IGN, suggesting the film is unlikely to be troubled by Musk's AI ambitions.
