Empire of the Sun Bring the Crowd “Alive” at Jones Beach: Photos + Setlist
Empire of the Sun brought their "Ask That God Tour" to the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, on Sunday night, delivering a 19-song career-spanning performance. Fronted by Luke Steele, the Australian electropop duo played against striking visual backdrops, drawing on both their back catalogue and their 2024 album Ask That God, in a show that reaffirmed their reputation as a compelling live act.
The set included favourites such as "Changes", "Half Mast" and "We Are the People", building to a main-set closer of "Walking on a Dream" before an encore featuring "Tiger by My Side" and finishing anthem "Alive". Despite roughly 30 minutes of light rain during the set, conditions at the oceanside venue remained pleasant overall. French act Polo & Pan played a 50-minute DJ set in support, while Mexican electro-funk band Midnight Generation opened the night. The tour continues through to a Las Vegas date on 9th October.
