Epidemic Group has appointed Erik Wahlberg as chief executive, replacing interim CEO Sara Börsvik, who will become joint chief operating and financial officer. The changes take effect on 1 October 2026 and reflect the group’s broader focus on AI, video production and creator-led storytelling following its acquisition of Blenda Labs.

Wahlberg founded and leads Blenda Labs, which Epidemic Group acquired in July, and previously co-founded Frever and held senior roles at MTG Studios. Börsvik has led the company since March, overseeing a return to profitable growth in the first half of 2026 after an investment-focused 2025. The group includes Epidemic Sound, Blenda Labs, Soundly, Overtone Studios, Soundproof and Plenty Labs; reported revenue fell 5% to SEK 1.828 billion in 2025.
