Ohio firefighter awarded $1.7m settlement over former chief’s harassment
Rebekah Huskey-Archacki, a 35-year-old Ohio firefighter and emergency medical technician, received a $1.7 million settlement after suing her former fire chief, Kent Johnson, over alleged sexual harassment and abuse. Her lawyer said retaliation and attempts to undermine the investigation contributed to her leaving a job she had described as her dream.
Court filings said Johnson, whom Huskey-Archacki had known since childhood, made unwanted sexual advances, sent lewd messages and accessed private images from her phone without permission. She resigned in May 2024. Johnson pleaded no contest in April 2025 to five misdemeanours and a felony, and was sentenced to six months in jail; he was also ordered to pay the city $4,000 in restitution.
