Fernandes has home burgled while in Italy with Man Utd

BBC Sport ·

Bruno Fernandes’ Cheshire home was burgled on Wednesday while the Manchester United captain was in Italy for his club’s Champions League match against Como. His family were not at home, and United are supporting him after the break-in, which adds to a series of burglaries targeting footballers’ homes in the area.

The intruders were reportedly inside for less than five minutes before police arrived. Similar incidents have affected Manchester City’s Ruben Dias, as well as Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez; Dias was playing against Galatasaray when his home was targeted in January. United lost 4-1 to Como, and Fernandes later criticised manager Michael Carrick’s tactics, but he will remain captain and face no disciplinary action.
