Final Fantasy 14 will add a new tank job called Bastion in its forthcoming Evercold expansion. The job combines defensive shield use with ranged laser attacks and clawed melee strikes, marking an unusually elaborate addition to the game’s familiar combat roles.

Bastion uses paired weapons called skyltborg, described as gunshields with metal claws; its trailer shows aerial laser fire and close-range attacks. It will initially be available only in Evercold’s “evolved mode”, with further expansion details due at the Tokyo Fan Festival later this year and the expansion scheduled for January 2027.
